Lisa Tuchman, MD, MPH, is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and clinician-investigator in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Children’s National Health System. Lisa graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in Social Thought and Analysis after which she spent one year as a Fulbright Scholar in Malawi studying HIV and malnutrition. She returned to the US and earned her MD degree from Tulane University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health degree in International Health and Complex Emergencies from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and a fellowship in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She remained on faculty at CHOP for two years and joined Children’s National in 2009. Dr. Tuchman’s research focuses on improving health systems, adolescent and young adult care transitions, and reproductive health for youth with complex chronic conditions. She is board certified in pediatrics & adolescent medicine, she is a funded investigator and has been the Principal Investigator of multiple federally funded research grants. She has also authored or co-authored more than 75 peer reviewed publications, chapters and abstracts. Dr. Tuchman lives in Olney, MD with her husband and three children. |

Jalan Washington Burton, MD, MPH, is the Interim Chief Medical Officer of Health Services for Children with Special Needs, a Medicaid Program for children and a primary care Pediatrician with Core Health and Wellness in Washington, DC. In her role she acts as the lead physician for the organization and coordinates quality improvement and utilization management functions that enhance the care of vulnerable children. As a community pediatrician and public health professional, Dr. Burton is committed to working with and providing excellent care to all patients, particularly the underserved, new families, and adolescents. Dr. Burton lives and works in the community she serves. |

TjaMeika Purnell Davenport, resides in Prince George’s County, MD with her husband and their three awesome daughters aged 14, 11 and 10. Her middle daughter, Kennedy, has special health care needs including Autism, ADHD, Epilepsy, andIntellectual Disability. Having a child born with a rare genetic anomaly led to her current position as a Parent Navigator in the Goldberg Center at Children’s National. In that capacity, she provides peer-to-peer assistance and support to families of children from birth through young adulthood with chronic and/or complex health care needs. Currently her focus is assisting families navigate through various stages of Healthcare transition. She is responsible for connecting families to supported decision making and guardianship resources and assisting with identification of adult “medical home” primary and specialty care providers. TjaMeika volunteers at Children’s National as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council, the Ethics committee, and the Older Patient committee. Her community involvement includes the special needs ministry at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, special education volunteer educator with the Parents’ Place of Maryland, and a host of local and state-wide advocacy programs within the developmental disabilities community. |
