California Childcare Healthline
A Good Idea
Description
Children in early care and education (ECE) settings in California experience wide disparities in the quality of the health and safety of those settings. California Childcare Health Program's multidisciplinary team staffs our toll-free Childcare Healthline, answering questions from ECE professionals on health and safety; trains ECE professionals on health and safety in ECE settings; and produces materials (available on our website) on health and safety in English and Spanish for professionals and families.
Goal / Mission
The goals of this program are to promote and maintain the broadest understanding of health and wellness in early childhood settings and to create linkages and promote collaboration between health and safety professionals and child care professionals.
Results / Accomplishments
The program receives hundreds of phone queries each month and the website averages 700 users/day. The services are enthusiastically endorsed by the ECE professionals who use them.
