On Wednesday, May 9, 2018 the Clinical Translational Science Institute-Children’s National (CTSI-CN) sponsored this Science Café 360 event focused on learning about how communities can improve sleep health and address disparities in sleep health. The featured speakers were: Dr. Daniel Lewin, Associate Director of Sleep Medicine at Children’s National Health System, and Lieutenant Colonel Scott Williams, Chief, Sleep Disorders Clinic, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Drs. Lewin and Williams discussed the latest research in sleep science, and the impact of optimal sleep health on child and adolescent physical health, mental health and well-being. They were joined by Dr. Marishka K. Brown and Dr. Denise Haynie from the National Institutes of Health, who shared their expertise in sleep disorders and adolescent health. The evening was moderated by Tonya Vidal Kinlow, Vice President for Community Engagement, Advocacy and Government Affairs at Children's National Health System.
